Lady GaGa: No Yankees Clubhouse Ban
by Dank Kush on Jun.20, 2010, under Celebrity

Having been in the headlines as of late for her baseball game antics, Lady GaGa caused a stir while attending a Yankees/Mets game in New York City on Friday night (June 18).
Donning a bra and undies with an unbuttoned jersey overtop, the “Poker Face” singer boisterously cheered on the Yankees before paying a visit to the team’s clubhouse following their 4-0 loss.
Reportedly pounding whiskey and fondling her breasts while mingling with Yankee players, the NY Post claimed that the Bronx bombers “permanently banned [her] from the team’s clubhouse after her boozy antics.”
Since that time, Yankees GM Brian Cashman denied the claims, saying, “There is a time for things like that and that wasn’t it. After a loss is the wrong time. Where a security detail prevents the media covering the game from doing its job, that is wrong. This has nothing to do with her. . . . It has to do with a decision made upstairs to let her in and allow this to happen. She did nothing wrong. . . . The problem is internal and it’s been handled.”

Daniel Nava Grand Slam First Pitch Of Big League Career
by Dank Kush on Jun.13, 2010, under Sports

Daniel Nava got cut by Santa Clara University, served as their clubhouse manager for two years – washing their uniforms – and had to enroll in a junior college before Santa Clara later wanted him back.
Daniel Nava went undrafted and got cut from tryouts for an indy league team in Chico before signing on with them a year later.
The Red Sox signed Daniel Nava out of Chico and put him in A-ball at 25, where Nava OPS’d .948.
The Red Sox then shifted Daniel Nava between A-ball and AA the next year, at 26, and Nava OPS’d .991.
This year, at 27, Daniel Nava spent two months in AAA, where he OPS’d .856.
And, earlier today, Daniel Nava got promoted to the Major Leagues, and in the Major Leagues, he faced Joe Blanton and hit the first pitch he saw over the fence for a grand slam.

Dallas Braden Pitches Perfect Game
by Dank Kush on May.10, 2010, under Sports

Dallas Braden, best known for inciting a verbal war of words with Alex Rodriguez that the New York Yankees superstar predicted would only “extend his 15 minutes of fame,” instead ensured his place in baseball history Sunday afternoon.
Braden, pitching on Mother’s Day in front of the grandmother who raised him after his own mother died, pitched the 19th perfect game in baseball history. The Oakland Athletics left-hander set down all 27 Tampa Bay Rays he faced in a 4-0 victory at Oakland Coliseum.
Though the holiday crowd numbered just 12,228, the emotion in the stadium, and one section in particular, was palpable as Braden began the ninth. He lives with his grandmother, Peggy Lindsey, in Stockton, Calif., about an hour east of Oakland. She raised him from high school on after Braden’s mother, Jodie Atwood, died during his senior year of high school. Atwood suffered from melanoma. Braden’s fans sit in Section 209 at the Coliseum; that’s the area code for Stockton

Manny Ramirez Says Its His Final Season
by Dank Kush on Feb.23, 2010, under Misc
GLENDALE, Ariz. – Manny Ramirez is known for saying some curious things. This is his latest pronouncement: The Dodgers star insists his days in LA are numbered.
“I know I’m not going to be here next year,” Ramirez said Monday.
Ramirez’s contract expires after this season. Why is he so certain he won’t get an extension?
“I don’t know,” he said. “I just know I’m not going to be here.”
At 37, Ramirez is heading into his 17th major league season. The former World Series MVP served a 50-game drug suspension last year and, for him, was hardly a force — .290, 19 home runs, 63 RBIs.
Ramirez threw out the possibility that he could retire after 2010.
