Elinor Burkett Oscars

This would probably be what the producers consider an unintentional watercooler moment. In what probably put his film on the map more than winning the Oscar itself, the short documentary winner Roger Ross Williams got Kanye’d when accepting his award for “Music by Prudence.” As Mr. Williams, the director, was making his speech, Elinor Burkett, the producer, jumped onstage with him and began talking over him, shades of Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift at the Video Music Awards last year. Salon has the back story: the two have been fighting for a year; there was a lawsuit about the creative control of the film that was settled out of court. Ms. Burkett, who lives in Zimbabwe, where the movie was shot, claims she gave Mr. Williams the idea for the project, a charge he disputes. In any case they didn’t talk in advance to determine who would be the one person to come onstage to accept the award. (The Academy allows only one person to speak.)
Though she wound up delivering her thoughts at the mic, Ms. Burkett said she was not happy with the film. “It’s not what I envisioned when I came up with this project,” she told Salon. For his part, Mr. Williams said: “She pulled a Kanye. And it’s a shame, because this is such positive, happy film.”
But, he added, it didn’t diminish the honor. “It’s such a career achievement, to win an Academy Award,” he said. “I’m so proud of the movie .”

@Niomi – You refer to an absorbing point there. Not every person has the aptitude to make sure these things are undertaken in the proper manner and functional tips such as those you have provided will help promote the problems to a much greater amount than it is currently.
