College Student Fined $675,000 For Downloading Music

by Dank Kush on Apr.01, 2011, under Misc

Joel Tenenbaum, a Boston University Graduate student, just got charged $675,000 for getting caught downloading songs off Napster.  Who still uses Napster or Limewire anyways?  And this lame dude on CNN keeps trying to be an asshole and tries to compare downloading songs of the internet is the same thing as stealing a CD from a store.

It’s 2009, songs are going to get leaked and people are going to download them.  If artists want to stop this from happening then keep your music closer to yourself, watch the people around you, and capitalize off the potential that the internet can bring you as an artist.

IntelliGender Tells You If It’s A Boy Or Girl

by Dank Kush on Jan.21, 2011, under Misc

intelligender-picExpecting moms can determine whether they’re carrying a boy or a girl as early as 10 weeks after conception, according to an over-the-counter gender prediction test by a Plano, Texas, company.

IntelliGender makes a gender prediction test. If a urine specimen turns orange, it’s a girl. Green is for boys.

IntelliGender, the creator of the “Boy or Girl Gender Prediction Test,” say scientists isolated certain hormones that when combined with a “proprietary mix of chemicals” react differently if a women is carrying a boy or a girl.

It claims that within 10 minutes of taking the urine test, a mother will be able to tell her baby’s gender. The specimen will turn green if it’s a boy, and orange if it’s a girl.

IntelliGender would not say what hormones or chemicals it uses it in its test because of a pending patent.

Good. Finally this will save people an unnecessary trip to the doctors.

holly-marie-combs-picFormer Charmed sister Holly Marie Combs delivered a baby boy last month and it flew under the radar.

Combs, 35, kept her third pregnancy with husband David Donoho a secret because the birth was high-risk. Kelley James Donoho was born at the 35-week mark of Comb’s term and delivered via emergency C-section.

“We didn’t feel comfortable making any announcements until everyone was home healthy,” Combs told Celebrity Baby Blog.

The baby is now home, joining brothers Riley Edward 2, and Finley Arthur, 5.

Oprah Rigs Votes Against Zach Anner

by Dank Kush on Jun.22, 2010, under Misc

oprah-rigs-votes-against-zach-anner

Rumors are swirling that Oprah may be rigging votes against Zach Anner, the popular favorite to win her reality television show contest.

Apparently, a contestant named Dr. Phyllis accrued more than 300,000 votes and surpassed Anner in a matter of 20 minutes, raising eyebrows across the internet (screenshot here). Anner had previously been in the No. 1 spot for a week.

So far, there’s no proof of conspiracy.

Anner is a former University of Texas student and seasoned television host. He also has cerebral palsy and calls himself a “wheelchair-bound lady magnet.”

Val Kilmer is feeling the heat.

The actor, who wants to turn his 6,000-acre New Mexico ranch into an upscale bed-and-breakfast, is under intense pressure this week from neighbors trying to block the project, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Kilmer, 50, found himself in the danger zone with locals when he applied for permits for the venture, launching protests from fellow Santa Fe area residents still upset about comments he made in past magazine interviews.

The actor was quoted in a 2003 interview with Rolling Stone as saying his neighborhood was “the homicide capital of the Southwest” and that “80 percent of the people in my county are drunk.”

Two years later, Esquire published an interview with the actor in which he said he understood how to play a Vietnam veteran better than someone who had actually fought in the war, and that the soldiers were “borderline criminal or poor … wretched kids” who only served in the military because they “got beat up by their dads” or “couldn’t finagle a scholarship.”

Juneteenth is a day to recognize and commemorate the end of American slavery. Juenteenth a combination of June 19th was born out of the abolition of slavery in Texas in 1865 and is currently a state holiday in 36 states. Although the Emancipation Proclamation freeing American slaves went into force January 1, 1863. Texas as part of the confederacy did not recognize the emancipation. The slaves did not become free in Texas until Union soldiers took and occupied Galveston in June 18th and 19th, 1865. Juneteenth today is celebrated in African American throughout African American communities from organized church and community events to family gatherings.

Juneteenth is an opportunity to reflect upon the direction of a nation whose history was born from the blood stains of Native American atrocities and the holocaust of slavery.

Wheelbarrow – Its History And Use

by Dank Kush on Jun.07, 2010, under Misc

Post to Twitter Post to Digg Post to Facebook Post to StumbleUpon

wheelbarrow

A wheelbarrow is a small hand-propelled vehicle, usually with just one wheel, designed to be pushed and guided by a single person using two handles to the rear or a sail may be used to guide the ancient wheelbarrow by wind. The term “wheelbarrow” is made of two words: “wheel” and “barrow.” “Barrow” is a derivation of the Old English “bearwe” which was a device used for carrying loads. Because the word “barrow” is not in common use in English today, many people incorrectly substitute the word “barrel” in place of “barrow” as this seems to make more sense (possibly because the cavity in a wheelbarrow resembles a half-barrel) even though it is not a correct etymology.

The wheelbarrow is designed to distribute the weight of its load between the wheel and the operator so enabling the convenient carriage of heavier and bulkier loads than would be possible were the weight carried entirely by the operator. As such it is a second-class lever. Traditional Chinese wheelbarrows, however, had a central wheel supporting the whole load. Use of wheelbarrows is common in the construction industry and in gardening. Typical capacity is approximately 170 litres (6 cubic feet) of material.

A two-wheel type is more stable on level ground, while the almost universal one-wheel type has better maneuverability in small spaces, on planks or when tilted ground would throw the load off balance. The use of one wheel also permits greater control of the deposition of the load on emptying.
