Amy Victoria Beck, a California middle school teacher, is being accused of having sex and oral sex with a teenage male student.

Beck, 33, teaches English and social science at David Starr Jordan Middle School. She is scheduled be arraigned in Burbank Superior Court on Wednesday with four counts of unlawful sex with a person under 16 and one count of oral copulation with a person under 16.

Conan O’Brien is back! He’s hitting the road starting April 12 for his “Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour” and will perform across the country until June 14.

Conan is barred from having his own TV show until September, according to his severance deal from NBC.

Just out of curiosity I wanted to see how Nomar Garciaparra, who retired with the Boston Red Sox Wednesday morning, ranks among shortstops already in the MLB Hall of Fame and here are his stats:

Nomar Garciaparra: BA: .313 (3rd), OBP: .361 (T-9th), SP: .521 (1st), Hits: 1,747 (18th), Home runs: 229 (4th), RBIs: 936 (10th), Runs: 927 (18th), Stolen bases: 95 (16th).

In terms of his Hall of Fame worthiness, I guess it comes down to a number of factors.

Here’s my quick take on some areas of consideration if he should get in as a shortstop:

Power Numbers: YES. He really should rank third in the home run category if you bumped Robin Yount, who spent about half his career as an outfielder. Tenth in RBIs is also a very good rank.

Batting Average: YES. He ranks third on the list of HOFers and for nearly a decade was considered to be one of the best at his position, along with Derek Jeter and confessed PED users Alex Rodriguez and Miguel Tejada.

Percentages: YES. First in slugging percentage, ninth in on-base percentage as well as a high OPS among HOF shortstops? Hard to argue with those numbers.

The report that Joe Nathan has a torn elbow ligament is awful news for both him and the Minnesota Twins, but unless you’ve already drafted him already or count on him in your keeper league, I still wouldn’t panic here. He’s a closer. There are 30 of them today, and by midseason a third of those will change. Yes, Nathan was one of the best closers for the past six seasons, a rock at an often-problematic position, but as always, someone else will step up. The Twins will survive. Fantasy baseball will survive.

That’s because Jon Rauch is going to step in and be this season’s David Aardsma. Yes, I believe that.

Mock if you like, but a year ago at this time, few knew who Aardsma was, and even fewer believed he’d end up with 38 saves. We didn’t know for sure he was the Seattle Mariners’ closer until April had begun, after most drafts had been completed. At least in this case Nathan won’t be tempting us into late-March. He’s done. Move on. Don’t draft him at all in one-year leagues or keeper formats, and I say that with confidence. Maybe in 2012 we’ll look at him the way we do Billy Wagner today.

Though she wound up delivering her thoughts at the mic, Ms. Burkett said she was not happy with the film. “It’s not what I envisioned when I came up with this project,” she told Salon. For his part, Mr. Williams said: “She pulled a Kanye. And it’s a shame, because this is such positive, happy film.”

36 years old blond Carina Schlesinger, who was an ex-model, killed herself after shooting her 29 years old boyfriend Daniel Cresci. On Friday, Peter Warshaw Jr., who is the Monmouth County Prosecutor, informed that Carina Schlesinger killed Daniel Cresci and set her rented New Jersey home ablaze. Sources have reported that Carina Schlesinger turned her gun on herself; this tragic incident happened on Wednesday.

Daniel Cresci was an aspiring restaurateur and a lawyer, police is in the view that Carina Schlesinger shot him. One of Daniel Cresci’s friends, Scott Broschart informed that both Schlesinger and Cresci had been dating and meeting with each other for more than 18 months. Broschart also said that Daniel Cresci met Carina Schlesinger at a park where she used to come for training her dog.

He added that their relationship was not ideal and they both had a stressed relationship. Scott Broschart stated, “I saw consecutive ups and downs during their relationship,” he further added that Carina Schlesinger was not mentally stable and she used to do worst things. Broschart stated that he was peculiar because Daniel Cresci was such a man that he used to stay keep in touch with his family. He loved his parents and brother very much; we talked with each other daily, said Scott Broschart.

Marine Col. James Sabow — The Pentagon shooting suspect, John Patrick Bedell, who on Thursday evening opened fire on two security guards at an entrance to the Pentagon died at hospital. He was injured by the return fire of other guards, standing there. The injured guards are stable and out of danger. He did not give them any clue of attack. He just approached the security guards near gate and started firing. The suspect was identified as an American citizen named John Patrick Bedell and he was 36-year-old. The death news has been confirmed by the U.S. Defence Department Headquarters, too.
